account Coordinator

Violet PR is seeking an Account Coordinator to support our growing boutique PR firm based in Montclair, NJ. We’re looking for an energetic go-getter who’s passionate about news, social media, writing and learning the PR business from the ground up.  You will report directly to agency Account Managers to support a diverse range of clients in fields including real estate, economic development, entertainment and business. 

Our ideal candidate is someone with at least one year of past PR experience, strong writing and interpersonal skills, and social media expertise.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Researching and drafting news releases, media advisories, social media content and pitches, with direction.

  • Researching target media lists using Cision and the Internet; working with the team to come up with new ideas to reach targeted media outlets.

  • Social media management, including implementation of social media schedules for multiple clients on platforms including Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.

  • Compiling and preparing client reports, includes merchandising and quantifying media placements for clients.

  • Researching speaking opportunities and editorial calendars for client opportunities.

  • Planning itineraries for media tours and press trips.

  • Updating Violet PR website and client websites as needed.

  • Maintaining / updating account files electronically and tracking projects underway.

  • Management of select clients at Violet PR, including professional day-to-day phone and email communication.

  • Responding to requests for information from clients and the agency team in a professional and timely manner; participating in conference calls and meetings with clients as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills (dynamic personality a plus!)

  • Detail oriented and able to coordinate/participate in numerous projects in an organized manner.

  • Social media savvy, with experience using Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, etc.

  • Genuine interest in reading news and learning how to work with journalists effectively.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of PR tools including Cision and PR Newswire a plus.

  • Ability to understand editorial calendars, identify relevant media opportunities for clients and schedule pitches accordingly, with direction.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing, Political Science or a related field.

  • At least one year previous experience; several internships a plus!
